Technical terms for
bagging and packaging

The definitions that come up most often for anyone who buys or operates bagging, sewing and sealing equipment.

What is an industrial bagging machine?
Equipment that weighs and fills bulk products (grains, powders, granules) into bags or big bags, with weight precision. View bagging machines →
What is a mechanical bagging machine?
A bagging machine that doesn't depend on electric power or compressed air for weighing, suited for smaller volumes.
What is an electronic bagging machine?
A bagging machine with an electronic dosing system, greater precision and productivity, suited for high volume.
What is a Big Bag bagging machine?
A bagging machine for filling FIBCs (big bags), with capacity up to 2 tons, used for exporting grains and ores.
What is an industrial sewing system?
Equipment that closes the mouth of bags after filling, joining the edges with polyester thread. View sewing systems →
What is an industrial sealer?
Equipment that closes plastic packaging by heat sealing, ensuring a barrier against moisture. View sealers →
What is FIBC / Big Bag?
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container — a large-volume bag (up to 2 tons) used for transporting and exporting grains, ores and chemical products.
What is a valve bag?
A bag with a filling valve, automatically closed by the pressure of the product itself — common for cement and fertilizers.
What are NR-10 and NR-12?
Brazilian safety regulatory standards: NR-10 covers electrical installations, NR-12 covers safety in machinery and equipment.
What is chain stitch / double stitch?
Stitch types used in bag sewing: chain stitch uses one thread, double stitch uses two, resulting in a stronger closing.
